TFSA Account

Yesterday I opened a TFSA account for us with RBC Direct Investing.  The whole account opening process was pretty painless after I realized that the computer I was using to open my account did not have Adobe PDF Reader.  As a result it generated a file on my laptop and was unable to display it, anyways I managed to save the file and opened on my other machine with Adobe on it.

Called RBC Direct Investing rep and they advised me to print, sign, and also include a W-8Ben form with my application just in case I trade US equities.

So today I have printed the forms, signed them and tomorrow I will submit it to my local RBC branch.

My plan is to maximize on TFSA contribution of $5000 and then buy some dividend paying stocks and leaving them there for the long term to see if that is going to generate some income.

Will keep posting on the progress.

TFSA to the rescue...

Thanks for your recent post on the Tax Free Savings Account. More Canadians need to take a proactive approach to this amazing financial vehicle. Thanks for telling readers how pain-free it really can be.
